Mother’s Day is about more than presents and flowers, it’s a time to show appreciation for all the hard work and love that mums and female caregivers put in every day. For many of the families we help, the support network just isn’t there and many face not celebrating Mother’s Day at all. With the cost of living crisis hitting many families hard, celebrating Mother’s Day with even the smallest gift will be a luxury that they simply can not afford.
Our campaign, A Gift For Mum, is dedicated to showing our appreciation for these incredible mums. Once again, we asked the community to come together and donate brand new toiletries for us to make up a pampering bag.
Thank you to everyone who showed kindness and donated. We’ve been able to give out 580 pampering gifts this year.
We believe that mums deserve a special treat, a moment to themselves, and the opportunity to prioritise self-care. Our orange bags are filled with fresh toiletries and pampering goodies for mums to enjoy. Thanks to the generous donations from our community, we know the mums who receive them will truly appreciate them.
“The mums I provided the gifts to were delighted with it and really appreciated the gifts, it made them feel special and provided a much needed ‘pick me up’ to them. Some of them expressed that the gifts would be the only gifts they will be receiving for Mothers Day.”
– Jigsaw4U-“For our single families, they did not expect to receive anything. One Mum in particular said that she felt as if someone had noticed her and that rarely happens. Another Mum said that she had been going through a very difficult time and it was exactly what she needed, it didn’t matter what was inside the bag but the thought was enough.”
-Referral-“I didn’t know what to do or say when my daughter child came out of school with something for me, as nothing is ever just for me. I could see that it gave her a real self-esteem boost by being able to do something for her Mum, all by herself.”

At Stripey Stork we always try to go the extra mile in everything that we do and at Mother’s Day we think and hand written card is the perfect added touch. This year Sara from Reigate College won our competition to design this year’s exclusive Mother’s Day card.
Our #TeamStork volunteers have been amazing. It’s a campaign that they really get behind and they’ve made up our orange bags and handwritten cards, putting so much love and attention into each task. They’ve also donated plenty of toiletries themselves, bringing them with them when they come for their session or ordering from our Amazon Wish List. Thank you, we couldn’t do it without you.
Superstar volunteer Edward really went above and beyond and collected a fantastic amount of toiletries from his neighbours.
We cannot run this campaign without support from the community, local business and our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who got involved and supported us.
This year our Amazon wish list was a huge success and we are grateful to everyone who purchased a gift. We were delighted to fill the office with packages.
Beauty Banks and The Hygiene Bank donated some fantastic items that were perfect for our pampering bags. Their deliveries helped to get us to be able to meet demand.
Unum in Dorking donated gifts and volunteered with us. As their charity partner, this was the first campaign that they could get involved with. The donations they brought got us off to a great start and they made up the orange bags and wrote some Mother’s Day cards during their volunteering session.
Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions are long term supporters of Stripey Stork and have supported our Mother’s Day campaign for many years. This year they bought some lovely toiletries that they then wrapped for the campaign.
The Manda Slater Memorial Fund have started working with us and their first initiative was to collect unwanted Christmas toiletry gifts and donate them to our campaign. They’ve then continued to collect toiletries throughout January and February, helping us to make up the orange bags.
SES Water continue to support us and they dropped off lots of donations that they had collected.
Banstead Prep School held a non uniform day and instead of asking for money they requested that parents donated a toiletry item towards our campaign. We were delighted when a car full of donations arrived at the warehouse.
Baldwin and Robinson Law saw our appeal for gifts and came to the rescue by buying gifts from our Amazon Wish List.
Ralph James Estate Agents acted as a drop off point so that people could donate whilst they were out and about.
“This is another incredible offer from Stripey Stork. It allows us as schools to engage with our parents on a different level showing how much we value and care about them. It also allows us to acknowledge the hard work our families put into their children, whatever their challenges are. I have had feedback from families with nothing but positivity regarding how the gifts made them feel. The content was huge and the families I spoke with felt overwhelmed by the generosity.
It also encourages parents to approach us – since I sent the gifts I’ve had two families reach out to me for support, which I don’t feel would have happened otherwise. Whether it’s because I made contact or they felt safe enough to do so isn’t important, the fact they came forward is what matters.”

Finally, we would like to wish all the mums and carers a very Happy Mother’s Day.
