Stripey Stork corporate volunteering and team days in Reigate

If your company offers paid volunteering as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility policy or you are part of a team who want to help a good cause, then we’d love to hear from you.

Stripey Stork are pleased to offer team volunteering opportunities.

All year round, Stripey Stork gather donations of new and pre-loved items of clothing and equipment for vulnerable families. The local community donates the items and our core team of volunteers then perform safety checks and sorts them, so they are readily available to be distributed to families in need.

We often need additional help with these tasks and that’s where a hardworking team of corporate volunteers comes in! You can truly make a huge difference to our ability to respond quickly and cost-effectively to the needs of the families we support.

We kindly ask for a minimum financial contribution of £350 per group of up to 12 people.

What you'll get out of your session...

  • The support of one of our dedicated, trained Volunteer Coordinators throughout your busy session.
  • Name badges and aprons to protect your clothes – you’re part of Team Stork so you need to look the part.
  • An informative briefing session to start and stories to motivate you throughout the day.
  • Bottomless hot/cold drink refreshments (we usually have biscuits and cake too).
  • Use of a fridge and microwave for your own packed lunches or recommendations for local eateries that deliver.
  • A volunteering certificate with team photo to proudly display at your place of work. Look out for your photo appearing on social media too (with your permission of course).
  • Access to all the resources you’ll need to stay involved in our work.
  • Team bonding, new skills and a sense of satisfaction that you’ve made a real difference.

We appreciate the £350 financial contribution from our corporate volunteer groups. You’ve taken time out of your busy schedule so the payment means we’re resourced and ready to provide you with a well-organised session that suits your team. When you see the difference we are making, you’ll know how valuable this is.

FAQs

Tasks vary from team to team and depend on the outstanding work which needs doing on the day.

For example, challenges might include sorting clothes by age/gender, or making up clothing packs or new baby packs. You may get to be a kid for the day and test toys/puzzles, or ensure that a donated pram meets safety standards.

Your team will be also be given responsibility for managing how they approach and complete the tasks.

Some groups like to split into teams and see who achieves the most.

Sessions run weekdays from 9.30am – 1.30pm. We have found that the length of our sessions gives optimal enjoyment and performance – after being on your feet most of the day then an earlier finish is usually welcomed.

Other arrangements can be made. Please contact volunteer@stripeystork.org.uk directly.

You’ll be up on your feet but there are tasks for everyone. We’ll ask you to read and sign our manual handling guidance (see link above right) before arriving, and you can let us know on arrival if you think there’ll be any issues.

Our premises are located across two floors, but the stairs aren’t necessary.

We kindly ask for a minimum financial contribution of £350 per group of up to 12 people, which will be invoiced once the booking is confirmed.

This will ensure that there is a trained member of staff with you throughout the session, and contributes towards the operational costs of our warehouse. Ultimately, by making a financial contribution it helps us to support vulnerable families in the local area.

We have limited parking available in our designated parking spaces, so if coming by car please car share if possible.

To make the most of the day we’ve found that groups of 10-12 work best.

Volunteering with us is a good chance to escape the office, and as such you’ll be on your feet for much of the time during the day. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Layering your clothes accordingly is a good idea as temperatures will depend on the time of year and what task you are allocated.

We’ll provide a Stripey Stork apron so you are part of the team!

Disposable masks are available at the warehouse.  Facemasks are now optional, however if anyone from your team feels more comfortable wearing one please do so. There are also gloves for sorting the donations but it is personal choice whether you want to wear these.

We’re well stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits, so please help yourself throughout the day. We also have a selection of plant-based milks in stock.

There’s a fridge and microwave available for your team to use. We can also advise you which local delis deliver platters, if you’d like to organise lunch in advance.

Thank you for asking. We’d love it if you brought donations with you on the day. You’ll be able to see for yourself how important they are. You may even get to make up a pack using them or see them leave for their new home. Kindly refer to our monthly wish list to see what items we need right now, or we always need nappies and new, essential toiletries to complement the packs we make up.
