Stripey Stork are pleased to offer businesses corporate volunteering opportunities.
All year round, Stripey Stork gather donations of new and pre-loved items of clothing and equipment for vulnerable families. The local community donates the items and our core team of volunteers then perform safety checks and sorts them, so they are readily available to be distributed to families in need.
We often need additional help with these tasks and that’s where a hardworking team of corporate volunteers comes in! You can truly make a huge difference to our ability to respond quickly and cost-effectively to the needs of the families we support.
We kindly ask for a financial contribution of £10 per volunteer, which helps us to support vulnerable families in the local area.
We couldn't have done it without our donors, funders, volunteers, fundraisers and corporate supporters. Read more...
Stripey Stork corporate volunteering days are designed to be rewarding and fun, with tasks for everyone. You’ll get an immense sense of achievement from taking part.
In addition, past participants tell us that our warehouse days are a strong team bonding experience, as well as a chance for team members to demonstrate leadership and improve organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. Read our guest blog by a volunteer from Fidelity who felt inspired to tell all about her day at Stripey Stork – The Gift that Keeps on Giving
Tasks vary from team to team and depend on the outstanding work which needs doing on the day.
For example, challenges might include sorting clothes by age/gender, or making up clothing packs or new baby packs. You may get to be a kid for the day and test toys/puzzles, or ensure that a donated pram meets safety standards.
Your team will be also be given responsibility for managing how they approach and complete the tasks.
Some groups like to split into teams and see who achieves the most.
Sessions run on weekdays, from 9am – 2pm. We have found that the length of our sessions gives optimal enjoyment and performance – after being on your feet most of the day then an earlier finish is usually welcomed.
Other arrangements can be made. Please contact [email protected] directly.
You’ll be up on your feet but there are tasks for everyone. We’ll ask you to read and sign our manual handling guidance (see link above right) before arriving, and you can let us know on arrival if you think there’ll be any issues.
Our premises are located on the ground floor, with no necessary stairs to manage.
We kindly ask for a financial contribution of £10 per volunteer, which will be invoiced once the booking is confirmed.
This will ensure that there is a trained member of staff with you throughout the session, and contributes towards the operational costs of our warehouse. Ultimately, by making a financial contribution it helps us to support vulnerable families in the local area.
At the Stripey Stork office.
51a Albert Road North
We have ample parking available using our designated parking spaces.
To make the most of the day and to comply with current social distancing guidelines, we’ve found that groups of up to six work best.
Volunteering with us is a good chance to escape the office, and as such you’ll be on your feet for much of the time during the day. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Layering your clothes accordingly is a good idea as temperatures will depend on the time of year and what task you are allocated.
We’ll provide a Stripey Stork apron so you are part of the team!
In light of recent government policy we are asking all volunteers to wear a face mask, unless exempt. Disposable masks are available at the warehouse.
We’re well stocked with tea and coffee and you can help yourself throughout the day. We can advise you of which local delis deliver platters, if you’d like to organise lunch in advance.
Why not take on a team building virtual challenge instead? You can set up a Localgiving fundraising page. More info can be found on our Fundraising page.
