Support for families

How to access Stripey Stork's support

We are here to help families who are facing hardship, with children aged 0-18 years with practical items such as clothing, cots, bedding, buggies, books, toys, and school supplies including uniform, bags and shoes. Here’s an up-to-date list of the items we usually stock. All items we give out are clean, safety-checked and of good quality. Some items, such as mattresses and bottles, are new.

To get support from us, please speak to someone who can refer your family to us. This can be any professional or organisation who you are in contact with (listed below). Referrals can be made quickly and easily, and we can usually respond within a few days. The person referring just needs to be able to collect the items from us in Reigate.

Professionals that can make a referral to us on your behalf...

  • Your local family centre (find your nearest Surrey family centre by borough / district).
  • GP, midwife or nurse.
  • A social worker
  • A police officer or family liaison officer
  • A family support worker or play support worker
  • Your child’s school, nursery or pre-school
  • The Citizen’s Advice Bureau
  • The YMCA
  • Your local Home-Start branch
  • Another charity or advice service, for example a foodbank, a domestic abuse charity, a refugee support group, or youth service

This list is a guide only. If you are in touch with another professional not listed here, please ask them to get in touch with us to see if we can accept a referral from them.

Other resources for families – local and national support

If you are struggling right now, whether that be financially, emotionally or practically, we encourage you to reach out to some of the organisations listed below, even if you just speak to someone for advice on where to look for further help.

Some organisations, like us, will require you to have a referral from a professional, such as a GP, midwife, health visitor, school, nursery or family centre – see above list.
